Bob,
I would expect in the $15K - $ 18K range. Milage is not that extreme. Will of course depend on the overall condition of the car. Posting pics may help make an assessment a tad easier. jb

Wow, I didn't think it would be that low, Bruce Anderson has the price much higher. I haven't taken pictures in a while, but I will and post.
I would be very sad if I had to sell anywhere near 14K Thanks guys, Bob

it's a tough call. a price in canada is usually higher than the US. I've imported cars before and it's so easy I'd be unwilling to pay the canadian premium. there's lots of very nice SC's in the US these days for 11-12K.

I'd expect to be able to get a really nice SC for 14-16. Your's sounds like a really nice SC. Engine is sorted too. But, for $20 you can be in a nice 3.2.
The prices are cheaper in the states and there is more choice, however you do have to pay both taxes on the way in so that's worth a couple of grand, plus your airfares, plus your time. Some people don't want to do it and may chose to buy yours for $20 instead, but I think it will take a long time to find that person. If you actually want to sell it I'd put it at $17 and be firm. At $20k I wouldn't call about it. That said, advertise it in Winnipeg! There is a guy here got an SC advertised for $40k!! There is a 930 in town for $60k!! They obviously do not have access to the internet. ![]() |

They must have been ordered to sell the car by their wives or something.

You have a nice car Bob but the market is pretty soft right now. I would agree with 15-18k.

When you say the paint is 6.5-7, what exactly does that mean? My experience with non-Pelican-type buyers is that they'll hammer you over cosmetics, but don't really care about mechanicals. I had my 72 up for sale a while back (thank god it didn't sell!) and the responses I got from auto trader, kijiji, etc. all only cared about the cosmetics. Very few people asked about the engine, transmission, etc.
But the opposite is true of people buying here, from what I've seen - they're realistic about cosmetics, but really care about things like structural rust, an engine rebuild, new clutch, etc. edit: my point is that, if you're selling to enthusiasts, $15-ish firm, if you're selling through auto trader to someone who wants a "porsh", $20k as, bargain to 18-19.

Thanks, when I say the paint is average I mean in most spots it's amazing for original 32 year old car, but there are a few rock chips and a small section where the clear coat is coming off; hey it's original. At least people can tell it was never repainted to hide something.
I'll have to think it through more because I don't know how long I can stand to be Porsche less, but I guess I could drive the cayenne turbo around for a while looking for my next 911 ![]() Bob James

For comparison here is a 1980 SC in Edmonton:
1980 Porsche 911 SC Coupe - St. Albert Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji St. Albert Canada. I have no idea what condition this car is in as I have never seen it. I paid about the same price for my 1980 last year and mine has 15000 more miles. jb

well, I don't seem to making any friends here
but I'll pretty much stick to my guns on this one. seeing the pics and with the upgrades, but a targa ( sorry targa lovers ) 16k tops, and I don't think it'll be a quick sale. with all the doom and gloom in the US economic future the toy market is looking pretty sad. admittedly I'm looking at it from B.C. where we pay 12% HST on a US import OR buying a B.C. car OR importing an Alberta car. ( please note: all opinions expressed are worth exactly what they cost )

You have to pay HST on a private used sale? How did you let that happen?
It is a good job the weather is OK in most of BC.

More demand for Coupes, less for Targas. This would help a sale: Fuchs 7's and 8's, Euro Lights, Good rubber skirt on the front spoiler, Who did the engine rebuild?
