2012 CanAm Tour

This will be the main thread for the 2012 CanAm Tour.

We know this might be a little early, but the excitement is building.

Al and I have been in the planning stage for the last few months. We have done a couple of recon missions to firm up the route and facilities.

Target time for the event is early to mid June 2012.

The event will be in BC. We will be staying in different hotels Friday and Saturday nights. Details will be posted later. Let's just say we start in Abbotsford, BC on Friday morning and end in southern Okanagan on Saturday night. Logic here was to position us for easy returns to home on Sunday for both our American friends and the crazy Canucks.

Game plan is to drive a number of great roads, have some social time and have some good eats. Basically, have a fun weekend that builds on the friendships we have developed as a group.

So - to help with the planning around head count and all that stuff, who wants to join the fun??

Count us in, but we will meet everyone somewhere on the route. It may take us some time to get back to driving the 911 after driving the "Rolling ****house" ( a Gunter quote)

Ps... We drove up to Little Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City and jumped in with a group of Japanese Import road demons tearing up the asphalt and drifting the corners. We all stopped at the top parking lot and they were a bit surprised when Mr and Mrs Senior delinquent stepped out of the STI (our towed vehicle) and introduced themselves to the 20 something crowd. Ha Ha Ha. never too old to tear it up!

That sounds exiting! Hope to be able to make it this year! Charlie, let me know if you need help with my hotels. My chain has them all over BC and I can get some good pricing for the group...

Sigh............it's so far away...........

CanAm in early to mid-June sounds good plus.....................by the beginning of May the "Hibernators" will be itching to go back to N.E. Oregon, right Phil?

Will be watching the calendar for decent weather in May for the Defrost-Kickoff Shaniko-Fossil and points beyond for the dream tour we found October 7-9, 2011.

Thanks for planning the CanAm 2012; here's one from the past:

Charlie, does this mean the drive will be a little more relaxed and social, with not so much "seat time"?

Charlie,
The first Can-am tour I attended in 2006 was very memorable indeed. I'll circle my calendar for the 2012 event.
Cheers
