MSD6A ignition upgrade..is it worth it?

Hi fellow Canadian Pelicans! Before I perform a search on the 911 Technical Forum, I thought I'd post this here first.

Is it worth upgrading to the MSD6A ignition in a '80 911SC?

Thanks for your input!

Cheers!

Alex

6al

I was very happy after replacing the permatune with a 6AL in my 930. In my application, it was a very good upgrade. Philip

The only thing better is mega jolt. If you are ever considering twin plugging, mega jolt is the ONLY way to go.

If every car in nascar runs msd then it has to be a proven product .And if you find a box that does not work just send it back to the factory and they will fix it for a small fee of about 40 bucks.

if you put one in, keep your eyes open for another. I have a spare I keep in the front. IF there's a problem, two minutes to plug in the spare and I'm on the road.

If you go the MSD route, but it from a known source - there are actually cheap Chinese counterfit ones out there.

There are millions of Ford cars and trucks running around with EDIS, the basis of the megajolt system. The megajolt box is only the controller that allows you to setup your timing maps. The rest of the parts are Ford, unless you want to use a different coil pack.
