'03 Rain Forest CanAm Round-Up

NOTE: The following is a message of interest for all Porsche drivers in the Rainforest Region......
(Cross-posted by yours truly)

Hello fellow PNW'ers. My name is Marc Sanders and I have been deemed the "official" event coordinator for the Second Annual SCWDP CanAm Rain Forest Region Round Up.

Doug Zeilke, last years esteemed host and founder of the Round Up, has handed the organizational duties over to me....which is odd because I don't own an SC None the less, it's an honor and I'll do my best to not poke too much fun at you SC guys For those who don't know, it should be plainly obvious that one doen not have to own an SC to participate...hell, Carreras out-numbered SC's at Round Up #1. All years and models are welcome, even the middle year cars

This year, as this is a CanAm event, the Round Up will be a south-of-the-border affair. Preliminary planning yields the following information:

Time of year:

Jeez, this *is* Washington. Late July or early August most likely.

Route:

Not set in stone just yet, I'll have to let the snow melt a bit in order to pre-drive a few of the routes I'm thinking about. That said, we will be leaving from the Seattle area, overnighting in Hood River area and returning the following day, perhaps even on a different route than the preceeding day. A stop in the "Wine Country" was mentioned at the end of the first Round Up so we may be swinging through the Yakima area as well. Most of the drive will be on lesser-traveled roads that are closed in the winter. Read: lots of twisty mountain roads with great views, as long as the sun is out anyway....

Accomodations:

The Hood River Hotel looks like a good bet, and with the Full Sail Brewery just around the corner...I think we may have a winner. I have yet to get in touch with the Hood River Hotel, but I will once I have a better idea of commitals.

Costs: Nada, nothing, siltch Just gas/oil , food/beverage and room.

Alright, that's enough for now. If your interested and want to let me know please email me or reply here with ideas, suggestions, and questions....not that I'll take any of them seriously but ya never know.

Marc

(P.S. Perhaps this year the SCWDP Founder, our very own Leland Pate, will make a surprise guest appearance with his new bride. Congratualtions Leland!)
