Cadmium (gold-colored) plating

I've recently been trying to restore cadmium-plated compenents in my engine compartment. I've been using Corrosion Block, and it cleans the metal up pretty well, but only to about 75% of original.

This link leads to a discussion at the 968.net board concerning Corrosion Block and another treatment, which is a paintover.

Any tips, comments appreciated.
