pertronix install

I recently purchased a used Tii dist with pertronix installed to put in my 1975 2002. what are the wiring connections necessary? i know pertronix states red to coil positive and black to coil neg. Can the 12V source used for the stock dist be used for the Positive connection?

The 12v for the stock distributor should work fine and most likely is the best source of 12v for ignition.
