Down in Porsche Land
Its always amazing to me how many vintage 911s are rolling around the streets here in LAs South Bay. Amazing. Its a testimony to the durability of these cars really... you just dont see very many of ANY other model or make of vintage car on the road...Porsche beats them all.
Just today, for example.... I took a little trip down to the local grocery store, then swung down by the water in Hermosa Beach for a little scenic driving...total trip was about 4 miles. I saw a total of 8 vintage 911s in this trip, not including the one that I was driving: 4 SCs (a white Targas, a blue Targa, one white Coupe, one one black Coupe), a sweet early 70s Targa in a nice blue color 2 Carerra Targas, one Red, one brown....both on dealer lots a rusted out early 70s black Targa by a mechanics shop... This isnt to mention the dozens within this little radius that I was missing....and it doesnt count the numerous Boxters, 993s, 996s and occaisional 964 that rolls around here all the time. The other day, I pulled up behind a beautiful 73 Orange Carerra RS. (or was it a copy?) * No point to this thread...other than to remark on this true hotbed for 911s down here. I even posted it in this 'gravesite forum' where no one will ever see it.

Yeah, I have a Yamaha kit up in the closet that I used to play when I had a house. Now they are just too damn loud for the neighbors. I noticed your name and thought thats what it was...

![]() And I have to agree. If you're a Porsche fanatic, SoCal is the place to be drivin' around. I often cruz from South Laguna up to Huntington Beach on the 1. Love it..

Still tough to get a wave from other 911's, even when I am in the 911. I think most people in SoCal, especially in the South Bay, get so jaded seeing so many 911's.
I always look and wave.
