Porsche Mechanics in Chicagoland area

I have recently purchased a ’82 911 SC. I need to have some work done on it and was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendation of Porsche mechanics in the Chicagoland area where I could take my car. I live in Crystal Lake.

All right, another NW Suburban! I live in Algonquin. There's a couple of more out here by us, but it's pretty scarce...

Anyway, I haven't needed a mechanic just yet, but someone in PCA recommended Fischer Motorsports to me. They are located in Barrington on hwy 14 which is relatively close to our area. They seem to have a good reputation from what I've seen so far, but again, I haven't used them.

Also, if you haven't joined yet, you might check out the Chicago Porsche Yahoo Group. There are some track junkies and lots of "weekend mechanics" there. Just join and send and email asking for recommendations. It works like a bulletin board, except it's all via email. This group also started a weekly get-together. After attending a couple of times, I'm pretty confident that if there was ever anything I had a question about, someone in this group could answer it! I believe this is a link to the group...

you have lots to choose from...just depends on how far you want to drive.

Mark's recomendation Fisher Motosports in Barrington (they did the PPI on my car)
and Midwest on Lake St just east of Ashland in Chicago.

They are a decent general repair shop, but not really a Porsche place. I know the manager there, used to mount tires for me, good folks.]
