Regarding the Focus models for North America, it doesn't look like we'll get the Euro focus until the 2012 model year. (At least in Canada.)
The North American "2nd generation Focus" was indeed a re-skin of the first generation. The Euro 2nd gen is the car that shares its basic floor pan architecture with the Mazda 3 and the Volvo V40.
I have driven Euro Gen I and II Focus (Focii?) as well as both generations of the NA version and there is quite a difference. Fords reason for not giving us the Euro version was we had received a late introduction to the car and it wasn't through its cycle when the Euro version changed. I suspect that means people were still buying them and, as the Euro version went upmarket, they didn't think North American buyers were ready for that strategy.
Congrats on the 12,000 post milestone.

I think anyone that has ever worked in corporate America can identify with Office Space. Personally, I work with lots of engineers, so I know my fair share of Miltons.
