I saw you tail light housing post and found it very interesting as I'm now working on the same project. It turned out nice.
I noted you said:
"Another shot of the exterior - I left the inside of the rear part of the housing uncoated deliberately. For one, it will be sealed with a new rubber gasket once the back is installed, so no need. "
When I took the back off of my housing there was a 'rope' of something like plumbers putty that had been used to seal it. Have not been able to find a replacement for the putty or the rubber gasket you refer to. Any chance you remember where you got that? TIA
