My opinion of FI is way better now. My 670 mile road trip with fair amount of city driving ( would be 13 mpg in my modern pickup) took only18 gallons total. Now if I could optimize timing..oh well why bother. By the way the odometer only read about 2% above actual miles.
I have wanted to sell, especially during to frustrating time with the poor running. Maybe a keeper daily driver now.

I just bent the stop for the point(s) so both make and break contact. Maybe that is as good as a new part..I will find out..I'm counting on it to do a 600 mile trip 9/1/17

I have kept at it;doing all checks I can..well maybe this is it..the pair of points low in the dist. that send pulses to the FI..rubbing blocks so worn down that only one is still making/breaking contact. That fits the symptoms of frequent bouts of low power untill now always low power. I don't know about source for the points. Maybe this will help someone else. Your welcome

At the end of my rope. 73 914 1.7. original FI. Used to run well. Developed periods of very low power then back to normal. The low power periods have extended to almost permanent. May have only a number of seconds of power..seems to be during warm up time. I think I have checked all usual causes;plugs/wires, pertronix, all? connections, distributor secure -I think. That is rotor can not be turned by hand as in skips out of its slot.
I hope someone has had and fixed same problem.
    Thanks, Stan
