I struggled for years with the concept of originality vs. high temps on the track because did not want to change the front look of the car with the bulky/thick/plastic/big after market front valances. Meanwhile, added coolers, fins, fans, ducts to the car to aid cooling the engine w/o results.
I had to do something, a friend of mine offered his help: I bought the front oil cooler, removed the valance, installed the cooler/hoses... and tested the car = it ran 30* cooler = no brainer. My friend (body shop) cut the original valance and built the "mouth" for the cooler to breath, maintaining the the original rubber lip and fog lights mounting location on the OEM valance. We had to adjusted it a couple of times before painting, but it works great and looks pretty original with the benefit of the extra cooling and improved stance. It cost me $400.
