Thanks for posting so many pic's of the good old days! Also, in reference to the picture someone else posted with Grady sitting on the floor next to a 917 with all the 24 spark plugs on the floor...this was Vasek Polak's 917 which Milt Minter was driving. Vasek was screaming at Milt for fouling all the spark plugs after idling too much and driving to slow! All the spark plugs needed to be changed, so, Grady helped Alwin Springer his mechanic at the time by checking the gaps and handing Alwin the plugs. I remember the spark plugs were $17 apiece at the time which was a small fortune in the early 70's.

You are correct, the water cooled 911 engine which I had built only ran on the dyno. Grady and I got into a disagreement over one of his creative bills and we never spoke to each other for twenty some odd years. The whereabouts of the engine is still in question. I believe it is still in a semi-trailer with many of the other parts he collected by hook or by crook.

    Hi Frank,
Just saw your post with all the old ~70's Grady pictures. They were wonderful. And thanks for the note and picture with Ted Shaw in it. I've been trying to remember his last name forever! We used to caravan together (with others too) to the various events. And with his 914-6, we'd often run against each other. Is he still around?
Rummaged around and found my old 'Aspen '78' Porsche Parade folder. Looking thru it, I noticed a list of the Parade Committee - Norm Martin, Chick Misura, Frank Barrett, Dan Jarvis, Lee Sammons, Fred Veitch. Then I made the connection for 'fbarrett'! Sheeze! And then there was the list of "The Posse" - a lot of other names I hadn't heard or thought about in the last 30 years or so - Sandy Misura, Paula Stacey, Greg Volan, ... and Anne & Frank. How the heck you two been? Drop me line sometime.
    cheers,
    jt (John Thomas, jwt1969@gmail.com), White '69 911E
