John:
I've sprung a leak in the area of my crankshaft pulley on my '87 930. The leak is either coming from the crankshaft seal of the intermediate shaft cover plate gasket/ o-ring. It seems to me that it's going to be pretty difficult to determine the culprit unless I pull the crankshaft pulley. Can I use the special tool that you suggested in a previous thread (M16 bolt with threads removed) to remove a pulley for a 930? I'm not sure what models this tool that you mentioned works for.
I understand that I can remove the pulley bolt by placing the transmission in high gear and applying the brakes while removing the pulley bolt. I also know how to remove and re-install the fan belt.
Any tips are appreciated..
