Wow, to replace the clutch cable in the front you have to be a contortionist. Lay on your belly with your face by the pedals. You will have to pull the carpet back and remove the wooden foot-board and likely get a vacuum down there to pull the dirt out that has caked up. Then take off the throttle pedal and you can kinda sorta see the clutch cable connection on the pedal cluster. It has a clevis pin that unsnaps and swivels off.

It is a real pain to do.

I would suggest you post the same question on the technical site. I am sure there are long threads on the process with photos.

Hello GH 85 Carrera , I guess I am stupid but I have no idea (read everything) how you can get inside the tunnel and disconnect the clutch cable . I can't even tell how it's connected. I am not that non mechanical because I rebuilt my engine (and it runs) ! I read the shop manual and the useless 100 projects and they keep this a secret. If you are still into 911's any help would be great

Mifox, yes I went to the Porsche Parade. This was my 14th Parade. Every parade is much alike and much different. The location make a big difference. This year it was just a shame we had all the rain just before Parade and made the concours move indoors. The event at the corral was stupid to be in the sun. I usually write a letter to national about specific items. Not a complaint letter, but I do point out issues and make suggestions. I have seen those concerns addressed.

All in all it was a typical parade. The dinner is the HOT sun was a poor choice, but last year in Monterey, CA we had the welcome dinner and it was COLD! like 50 degrees and breezy. I am already making plans for next year in Vermont.

    How was your experience?

My name is Mike Fox. I saw your post about your A/C. I, too, have one of Griffith's systems, and it works great.

I also saw that you and your wife went to French Lick last week, and I am assuming for the 60th Porsche Parade. My wife and I attended, and it was our first.

If you did attend, how did your experience there compare to other Porsche Parades?

    Regards,

No I was talking about the rubber lines on a Carrera. The CIS cars had a different setup. On the Carrera the metal ;ines are crimped to the rubber. The rubber deteriorates after all this time and the pressure of the fuel injustion system causes leaks. I am not real familiar with the CIS cars since I own a 85.

Saw a note from you in a Targa thread about replacing fuel lines. Is this the hard (metal) fuel lines that you are talking about? I have an '82 with CIS. Wondering if you are referring to cars such as mine.
    Thanks,
    cd

His name is Scott. Bob Moore's number is 748-8000. Just call and ask for Scott in the service department. If you want a turnkey job they can do it. If it is just transmission mounts or adjustments call Cory Jump at Planet 911. 210-7911. Thay are pretty sharp and can do the adjustments cheaper than the dealer. You can talk to them about a transmission rebuild as well.

No. Its still jumping out of first gear. I drove it yesterday and noticed that when I take off in third, the gear shifter moves around alot. I'm now thinking this could just be a bad transmission mount. I need to take it to Planet 911 but Its hard to get the time. i'm really reluctant on pulling the engine and tranny by myself.
    Hows the suspension upgrade?
