I have a 1979 3.0L that came from Jim at EASY 7 years ago. I got it with an earlier car that had a toasted 2.7. The guy was going to put the 3.0 in rather than fix the 2.7. Jim got the engine in a car that belonged to a friend of his that was totaled by a car crashing into his garage. The accident broke off #4 runner and one of the studs. I picked up a used runner from Rothsport yesterday and plan to replace the stud tomorrow. Then I planned on putting the engine on Ebay for $4975 OBO.
Jim said the car ran strong before it was hit.
If you're interested I would sell it for $4500, complete with injection, etc. $4000 as a long block.
I believe it is a great engine and wouldn't hesitate to put it in a car if I had one that needed it. But I don't want to store it so I'm going to sell it "as is" since I've never run it.
I'm in Portland and it should cost about $250 to ship it to the Bay area.
