I found the board in that condition with the modified wire soldered on there so I am not sure what caused it originally. I'll check the dimmer and get back to you.....

    Hey Rupesy.

I just replaced my 80 circuit board, the PO had a shredded board and only half the dash worked. I turned the new one up and worked one second and poof. I got a burn in the exact same spot that you pictured. It looks like that silver trail runs to "Masse" or "ground" on the bottom right connector. There are these Masse leads in two positions: IXIIXIIIIIII
The X's are the masse leads with the brown ground wires, do you know what caused the short / burn on that line? I have a new board wired up and DO NOT want to fry that line again.

All cluster lights went out when the line sizzled in half.

Also I noticed on bottom of pod potentiometer seemed wired backwards and the push button next to it. Do you know proper placement of the dimmer potentiometer wires black / blue vs the all black?
