    Morning, yes, it turned out that despite being stripped twice and ultrsonically cleaned, there was still dirt clogging the carb galleries.
    I the end I drilled the lead plugs out and used pipe cleaners to get to as much as I could, then soaked them in a bath of carb cleaner and blew them out with high pressure air.
    Replaced the lead plugs with fishermans lead shot and all was well.

    Mitch,

    Here's what I was referring to the other night.

    * large spacer between 4th and 3rd gears on the pinion shaft
    * the flat spave between 2nd and 3rd gears - pinion shaft
    * last ting. the spacer between the bearing at the end of the pinion shaft - right behind the bearing.

    It's me again.. can you please call me ? I'm in need of the flat metal spacer between the reverse gear - roller bearing cages.. located at the tail housing- where the little rubber o ring hangs on.. I dropped the part and can't find it! Call me if you still have reverse gear and can part with this small spacer between the two small roller cages.
