Hi Otto,

You posted a while back regarding a 4th gear that is popping out on someone's 914. I have a similar issue. Already went through all of the bushings and am convinced it is internal. I've rebuilt 3 manual transmissions in my lifetime, but no transaxles. Could you comment on the relative difficulty of working on these transaxles? Are many special tools needed? What all would you replace while in there? The rest of the gears actually shift great. Thanks!

Thanks Otto,

I had to look this up on line. I'd never even heard of a bowden tube.
How hard is it to access. Do you reach it from the interior or below the car. Does it matter if I turn it to the right or the left.
