Hard to say without seeing a picture, but if the spindle in not 'blued up' and otherwise looks OK, I would take either a fine hand file and remove the added material or you can also use an emery paper strap to clean it up

    Hey eastbay,

I was hoping you could lend me some expertise, since it sounds like you have it.

I have a situation similar to this thread.

I got my old race off. However, it seems it has "welded" a bit of material to my spindle. The OD of the spindle has increased such that I can't get my new race on.

Would you recommend just filing etc. until I can get it on? Is that safe? Or is it dangerous to keep running the spindle?

    Thanks,
    Zaylor
