It was a good showing. Sorry if I missed anyone from here. Starting talking to 3-4 guys and didn't walk around that much.

I'm going to the Blues Fest Friday night, but will be at the VGP Saturday morning. I am also headed over to the Vintage Motorcycle event at Mid-Ohio on Sunday, should be fun too.

I'll also be in the garage, for the third year in a row saying, "next year I'll make it in the 911."

Got the lowered drivers seat rail in this weekend. So I am on target to start taking the paint off.... weather permitting. Also have to set up my makeshift paint booth (drape plastic on the garage walls...)

Hello All:
Just found this thread. I'll hopefully be running my 911 at Shenely. Stop by and say hello, Red #71 911E. Just replaced engine today after I blew the other at Mid Ohio vintage race last month.
Thanks,
Kevin

Pretty cool, I forgot Carini was there. Burt Levy, author of "The Last Open Road", had a booth. It's good that it is getting national visibility, though we don't need to worry about competing with Monterrey.

My only negative comment is when they allow large blocks of cars that you see on the road every day, it dilutes from the uniqueness of the overall event - WRX's, Mazda's, newer Corvette's, even people "showing" their 2010 BMW 5 series that they take to work every day.

Glenn - you have been busy. I am impressed! Let me know if you ever need an unskilled hand - right around the corner - ill bring the beer.

Considering looking into a tranny rebuild for the winter, 2/3 synchros are pretty gone. Lets just say i think i messed up my rotator cuff gettin' into 2nd. Took a trip up to chautauqua this week and it was a bit much.

Could i buy somebody a beer if they drive my car and see how bad it is? Would also love to drive somebody's sorted 915 gearbox to know what a good one feels like.

I'd be happy to check out your tranny. Are you sure it is in the transmission, not a linkage issue?

Glenn - thanks for the offer

Not sure of nothin

PPI did confirm that two synchros were on their way out so i knew that going into it.

Raysich said bushings are ok.

Clutch was adjusted. My buddy put in the wevo shift plus ed's coupler. The feel is so much better but it is still a lot of times crazy hard to get into second gear. He is smart dude but not necessarily specifically to 911's so something might be not quite right.

The 1-2 shift is a pretty tall jump. I always had to be slow and deliberate on that shift. When you say "crazy hard" to get in 2nd, what do you mean?

Yeah - i have heard people describe the 'slow and deliberate' 915 shift and that definitely helps especially if i am higher in the rev range. But more often than not if i am kinda just tooling around - i pull into second and just can't get in. There is like a second notch down that i am pulling hard to get in to. I love that car otherwise but definitely affecting my driving experience.

Let me get mine back together. My gearbox is currently being rebuilt. Hopefully get it back in 2 weeks. After it's broken in, I'd be more than glad to let you see the way a fresh box shifts.

My car was nearly impossible to get into 2nd or 3rd, then I replaced the shifter, shift coupler, gearbox and engine mounts with WEVO units. That made a huge difference. I then changed to Kendall fluid and was very happy with the car. I read everybody talk about the deliberate 1-2 shift, so I just figured that was my issue.

Last January, I could hear my throw out bearing singing and my internal oil thermostat was stuck open. Both require an engine drop, so I figured I'd have a friend rebuild/upgrade the gearbox. I thought he'd call me back and ask what's wrong with me, there's nothing wrong with my gearbox. Turns out my bearing openings were egg-shaped. He said it's pretty common with early aluminum Euro gearboxes. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it shifts when done.
