Vanos Selenoid - 2008 R56 non-turbo
I recently removed the head and had it surfaced, valve job and pressure checked. New Timing Chain set, new Vanos Sprockets, New Vanos Selenoids, new lifters int & exh. Plus an array of other repair/replacement parts working through the problems. Got it all back together this weekend and it runs like a top. (Boy, reassembling the Valve Tronics was not without challenges) Purrs like a kitten. But, I am getting this code: 2842-Not Present DME Vanos Selenoid Valve Exaust Activation. Now, I also purchased a new Vanos Selenoid Wire Connector plug kit from Mini since mine disintegrated. It's empty and you have to put the new connectors on the wires and fiddle with the whole thing to go back together. I failed to pay attention to the polarity. Does it make a difference? If it doesn't, does anyone have any ideas why this would be coding out?
can you get a bad selenoid out of the box? Thanks for any help. Last edited by 08&09R56coupes; 12-17-2018 at 01:33 PM.. |

FYI- the connection for the Vanos Selenoids are polarized. I bought another connector and broke apart the previously replaced plug, reversed the wires and reassembled the new plug and the problem is gone. Seems to be doing great.
After 3 years of sitting, another R56 has re-entered the motoring world. |
