Vacuum pump troubleshooting

Thinking my 2009 R56 Cooper S vacuum pump may be on the weak side but cannot seem to find operating specs for it. It pulls a max vacuum of 20 in. of vacuum and seems to hold it well after shut off. Engine lopes only when cold and incidentally seems to experience an overly hard brake pedal, but only on panic stops.
