Serpentine Belt Size
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper S Convertible with 41000 miles. I bought my car new and have not done any pulley modifications or any other modifications to it. The serpentine belt broke and fell on the road so I didn't have an old belt to get the number from. I bought a belt from Amazon AC Delco Part No. 6k535, this was the number listed for my car on their site, this belt is way too short for my car. I bought another belt from Advance Auto Parts Dayco Part No. 5060548 this part was also listed for my car in their computer. This belt is way too long at 54.75 inches. I went to the Mini dealer and matched this belt with one he had in stock, they are the same length. I measured the distance around the pulley's with the belt tensioner locked in the up (loose) position and that measurement is 48.25 inches. I'm not sure how many inches the tensioner takes up when it is in the down (tight) position but it didn't fully tighten the belt. There was at least 3 inches of slack in the belt with the tensioner in the tight position. Also, I could remove the belt from the car with the tensioner in the tight position. Has anyone else had this same problem? If so does anyone have the correct belt number or size for this car?
