Egs code 4e88
 

I own a 2013 mini cooper countryman S all4 that I bought new in 2013, currently it has roughly 110,000 miles on the clock and has been a relatively trouble free little car since new. Now the problem, for the last 2-3 years I have been getting the 4e88 egs code which just says shift solenoid s2, usually changing the fluid in the trans will make the light go back out and it wont come back on till its got enough miles on it to need the atf changed again (30-40k). The trans seems to not work any different than when the car was brand new but with the check engine light on I cant pass emissions. I have run a data track with my snap on solus scanner on the shift solenoid status and that s2 solenoid very seldom shows to activate whereas the other solenoids are constantly activating and deactivating. Also I can drive the car several miles before the code goes active. If anyone has any info on what I need to fix let me know, I really dont want to take it to the dealer so they can fix it by process of elimination on my dime and I certainly don't want to get scammed into a new transmission because some d.f mechanic doesn't have any diag skills.
