exhaust cam shaft sensor issue

An 07 mini R52 base mini, I bought as a fixer upper, has been kicking my butt. I started having the 2986 DME: Exhaust camshaft sensor come on. It would clear and if I didn't get on the accelerator it would stay off. After driving it several times over a period of 100 miles it started coming on and would not clear. I had to turn off the engine to clear it. I have tested the wires from the sensor to the CPU pins and they all have continuity.
I read an article on Pelican how to check voltage on the different wires at the sensor. I CAN'T FIND THE ARTICLE. I have tried searching this forum and have had zero luck producing any hits.
Can someone please give me direction where to find this info?

Regards,
Briscoe

Disregard. I found the article on Pelican Parts R56 tech info.
I have a bad feeling about this code. Another shop installed the timing chain (by the other owner) and I can't be certain that it's not timing related. What a shame...........

A plethora of information in the MINI "How To" Tech Articles, driving an engine while its out of timing could be disastrous. If you are up for the task we have all the timing and specialty tools you would need to re-time the motor or bring it to a MINI specialist shop for the peace of mind.
