Air Bag Light ON???

Good Morning Y'all

My 2005 R53, Cooper S, has an Air Bag indicator light on. A while back I had the headliner replaced, at the dealer, and when I got my car from the shop, I noticed the passenger side seat belt reel wouldn't retract. So I took the car back to the dealer, and got this repaired.

Since then, and sometime after that fix was done, the Air Bag indicator, on the display, came on and it's been that way ever since.

I've been told that maybe the connectors under the seats may have come loose, or that maybe I need the whole seat changed out.

When the headliner was changed out, the seats may have been removed to make more room to work. I've checked all the connectors, and they seem to be well connected.

Do any of you have any suggestions? I want to fix this myself, if I can.

Thanks

Louis

I'm not sure about Mini, but on many BMW models if the seat is removed or the harness under the seat is unplugged it can trigger the airbag light.

It is possible that when they repaired the seatbelt they may have disturbed something to trigger it.

If that is the case the light just needs to be reset. If you have one of the more expensive scan-tools you can do this yourself. Otherwise it requires a visit to a shop.
