2009 R56 S, mating engine and auto trans
I have both out of the car and am trying to get them back together. Can get them close, but they won’t go the last 3/8”. Not sure what is hung up, don’t want to force. They are both original to the car. Thanks for your suggestions! John

If it were a manual trans, I would say that the splines on the input shaft weren't lining up with the splines on the clutch disk. I'm not very familiar with automatics, but could it be similar with the torque converter?
The fix for the manual trans, for me, was to put it into gear and grab one output flange and turn the other output flange. That turns the input shaft, and can help line it up with the splines. Not sure if you can do something equivalent with an auto box, though. --DD |
The last time this happened to me on a Porsche 996 with a tiptronic, the torque converter was not pushed all the way in.
I am not sure what you have on the 2009 Auto Transmission. |
