2007 Cooper S value
We bought a one-owner R56 2007 Mini Cooper S with 34,000 miles last year for my kids to use.
The carfax implied the car had been regularly, dealer serviced and only really used during the summers. Since we’ve purchased it, I’ve replaced: radiator, thermostat housing, timing chain, chain tensioner, front/rear brake pads/rotors, new drive belt, hood latch release, a new underbody panel had come loose, etc. at least it had new tires. We now have ~36,500 miles on the car. We don’t use it much, but I am buried on maintenance. What do you think i can sell it for? Thank you |
Well according to Kelly Blue Book it's worth between $5 to 6K if you sell privately. Of course with the low miles you should be able to get a bit more.

If you bought a Mini Cooper for your kids to use ... then I have to assume you don't like the kids much. That car, in that model, is an absolute nightmare for maintenance. As much as you have done, there is a much longer list that will show up. Things like Turbo, HPFP, valve cover will cost 50% of the value of the car in parts alone.

I made it a year without service, but now I have an oil filter housing gasket leak and worn valve stem seals. The car keeps needing oil and the CIL keeps coming on.
I’m assuming the maintenance required is well in excess of the value of the car and I should not fix it/I should sell it. There are still more problem areas? |
