Anyone here install aftermarket HID's?

My fiance wants HID's in her Mini. When I was looking the car over today, I noticed the light assemblies are part of the trunk lid. So where does one mount the ballasts? Do they get too hot being on the underside of the hood?

11 thousand views and no one has anything to say?
Wow.
I'm usually on the Porsche boards, but we just got a mini.
I'd be curious to see if anyone's done this.....

I just put the 4300k kit on my wife's Mini and they are AWESOME. I got them from www.cqlights.ca. Excellent bang for the buck.

No, they fit well under the hood and handle the heat fine. If you haven't already found your answer let me know and i'll give you details on how to install your new lights.

My understanding is that putting HIDs (even though they might fit) in a headlight unit not designed for them is a mistake because of the shape of the reflector. It's all wrong and you'll probably blind everyone one you come near.
