Suspension knock

Last Spring I installed new Sachs struts on all 4 corners of my 02 MCS at appx 140K. Along with the struts were all new mounts and a pair of MINI Madness tower reinforcement plates to solve some very minor mushrooming of the front strut tower. At that time I also replaced the inner ball joints because I had the car apart.

During the past 6-8 months I have been hearing what sounds like a loose front strut when I go over a bump at a slow speed. It sounds like a knock. I re-tightened the the top strut nuts with an impact wrench, and I checked the front for any play in the steering. Inner/outer ball joints seem tight, and there's no noticeable play in the tie rod ends.

The strut mounts (aka strut bearings) were the Lemfoerder brand. Any suggestions where the knock in the front is coming from???

I am noticing that the car will wonder just slightly when I hit uneven areas on the paved roads. Makes me think back to tie rod ends.

Thanks for your suggestions.
