I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S in Europe. Is disconnecting the battery required to perform this repair? If so will any electronic devices need to be reset, radio, door locks, or keys and if so, will this require a trip to a dealership?

I would suggest disconnecting the battery. You will have to relearn the window stops, program the clock and compass.
