Fault code P0123 P0222

There is quite a bit of discussion on the forums where there is a fault detected in the synchronisation between the gas pedal and the throttle assembly. Two feeds come from the two hall-effect sensor rotors in the pedal assembly and if they sense a difference in the output there is a fault raised in the ECU and the car usually goes into limp home mode. There have been various fixes published varying from squeezing the pin terminals on the throttle valve assembly to replacing the wiring harness and/or the airflow control valve and or the pedal assembly. I have found through trial and error that the fault is most likely in the plug/socket assembly on the throttle assy and replacing either the harness or the throttle body will fix the problem as at least half the pins are new. Perhaps another way to cure the problem is simply to remove the two plugs on the throttle assembly and spray them with ACF50 or something similar. No need to clean the pins or the sockets as this spray on fluid removes the corrosion. Just reassemble wet and it's good to go for at least another 12 months. This is all I do if the fault code shows up and it works every time.
