Thanks for all the great technical advice on the site, as a result of which I've just replaced the clutch, control joints ,tie rods, discs and pads on my son's 2002 Mini one, R50, 1.6 petrol. However, at the final stage, a single wire has revealed itself from the area of the intake manifold and search as I may, I cannot locate its destination. Its a single red wire coming off the wiring cable which runs behind the intake manifold and appears to have a sensor terminal. The terminal has a rubber 'o' ring and the end is tarnished green in colour making me think it may be coolant temp or ambient temp sensor but I can find no trace of a hole on either radiator or engine block. My son did have the radiator changed about a year ago and I'm wondering if this wire was now obsolete and tucked away until it revealed itself. Car has started and runs fine with no leaks. Any feedback greatly appreciated! Thanks in anticipation. Dave.

Thanks to all but after days of trawling google for wiring diagrams then resorting to viewing engine schematics found that the wire belongs to non fitted aircon unit on R50 so is obsolete. Thanks to all who viewed the item. Happy motoring! Dave
