valvetronic help
Hi, Im looking for a little insight. Im working on an '08 r56 with dual vanos and the valvetronic system. My question is, since the both camshafts and the eccentric cam were removed for the valve job. When I reinstall and time the intake and exhaust cams..,. does it matter where the eccentric cam is when I put it all together? Can I reinstall it with the eccentric gear on fully closed stop and the relearn will do the rest? Is there ANY way valve damage can occur if eccentric cam goes full open as long as the intake and exhaust are locked into place with the proper tools. Thanks!

webowl, did you ever find out the answer to your question about your vanos/valvetronic settings? I've had the same thing done, valve job to fix #4 exhaust, and need to set the timing on my engine.
I'd like to see and know where the gearing should be positioned on that "sub" camshaft that contains that partial gear that works with the valvetronic part. If I don't get any feed back I might make my own post. Last edited by Michael2007Mini; 02-23-2016 at 08:10 PM.. Reason: clarify the valvetronic instead of vanos |
