2007 Mini Cooper s Auto transmission change

My question is which route is easier, lowering the subframe to access the bolts on the transmission pan, or raising the engine and transmission to access the bolts on the transmission pan. The steps for raising the engine and transmission are far fewer than lowering the subframe.

Just a little confused and want to make sure I know what you're asking. Are you asking about how to go about removing the transmission from the vehicle or changing the automatic transmission fluid and filter?

Looking to change the transmission fluid, not removing the transmission.

Luccia, I have a leaking transmission pan gasket that I have to remove. In order to remove, there are bolts that are inaccessible due to the subframe. There are two procedures available two access these inaccessible bolts. One procedure involved lowering the subframe. The other involved raising the engine and transmission.

My question is which procedure is easier, lowering the subframe or raising the engine.

I'd possibly think it may be easier to access what is needed by loosing the engine mounts a little and raising the engine. You can take a look at our engine mount articles for some assistance. You loosen the bolts on the mounts to the body and then gently lift on the engine lift point. Don't over lift.
