Question on R52 convertible top mechanism
 
I'm starting to have an issue with my 2006 convertible top lowering system. When I try to lower the top I have to help the support beams off of the car. Once the supports are 3 inches off, the top goes down as expected. There are no issues raising the top to its closed position.

All suggestions appreciated.

I'd be curious if maybe your motor is dying. Does it seem like it's lagging or that it just gets stuck? How does it act when you close it, does it seem strong and have no issues?
