I have a 2005 mini, sometimes it starts with 3 key urns sometimes 10. The other day while I was waiting in traffic it just shut off, we opened hood to let it cool, not sure why, then it started had a charge circuit error code, took it to the mechanic he said he couldn't find anything wrong. we got a new battery and he checked everything else it happened again. Any ideas? The nearest mini dealer is 180 miles..don't think car will make it.

Did your mechanic check fuel pressure while the car was trying to start? I would start there.

You need someone familiar with these MINI's as they aren't easy and have lots of weird ticks and issues. Is it a Cooper Base or Cooper S? Does it sound like the idle dips down, runs rough and then dies?
