Is it possible to remove the ball joint that its attached to the subframe? Which is the best way?

From the control arm? I don't believe so. it has to be replaced with the control arm. Give The Pelican Parts parts specialists a call at 1-888-280-7799. They can figure out what part or repair kit you need.
