R56 Engine Timing Chain Guides Replacement with torque specs

Timing chain broke on my R56 Cooper S. Fortunately no valves/pistons damaged. I've replaced chain, guides and bolts, slide, crankshaft sprocket, and head gasket. With no tension applied, the chain is very tight. Is this correct? I've removed and replaced the assembly twice and everything appears OK otherwise.

As a note to others: the torque spec for the chain guide bolts in the Bentley manual is listed incorrectly as 30 Nm. According to the Mini workshop manual it should be 24 Nm for the lower two, and 20 Nm for the upper.

I wouldn't say it is super tight. There should be enough slack to get it on and off. What you're feeling may be normal.
