This will be their fourth full season in the Street Tuner class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge series at Daytona International Speedway. With their historic win last season, MINI took qualifying by storm. However, during the first hour of the race the #73 MINI, piloted by Mike LaMarra, experienced a front right axle failure, which forced him to pit. Then, the #37 MINI experienced axle failure while he was leading the pack as well.

Our race weekend outcome stings. Our MINIs are extremely reliable, so to fall out of this race with mechanical issues is extremely disappointing. After the race, we discovered both right side CV joint axle failures were caused by torn CV boots allowing the grease to escape causing the CV joint to overheat and ultimately fail. We’re not sure what caused the boot to tear since we’ve never had this issue before. What’s interesting is after performing 21 laps for the IMSA VIP hotlaps in our MINI hotlap car it also tore a CV boot but on the left axle. – Team Owner Luis Perocarpi

Although, the outcome was not what they wanted, they press forward and prepare for their next race at Sebring International Raceway.
