Whereabouts in Sydney are you? There are a few options, depending in your locale.

I use the fella at Glebe (Carlos), across the road from Sydney Uni. "Cavaco Motors"

Cavaco Motors and Porsche Rebuild

He's excellent, straight-talking and honest. Not cheap though. I don't think Porsche parts are ever going to be cheap!

I go to Con at Euro Automotive in Botany, he built up the 3.6 in my car.

Euro Automotive - Porsche BMW Audi Repairs Botany NSW

Don't think there exists a cheap Porsche mechanic anywhere

Thants not quite True Steve.
Its usually not us Specialists that are expensive, Its the Cars Parts and Labour that make the bill. A tear down on a 911 is much more labour intensive then the average common 4 cylinder vehicle.

+1 for Carlos Cavaco - always been happy with his work and his prices. I think you will find he is competitive with any of the others in Sydney.

He can be bluntly honest - which can sometimes not be what you wanted to hear from him. He has never recommended something unnecessary and can be quite practical with solutions if you are tight on a budget.

I agree with Tim (Mothy), I've been going to Carlos for 4 years, have always been very happy with his work, his prices and his sometimes brutal honesty, he knows his stuff, doesn't keep your car for weeks on end and is always happy to provide useful advice.

Michael Newton in Mulgrave is also good for engines and gearboxes.

For some persepctive In Canberra a friend recently asked the local Porsche dealer cost to do the valve clearances - quoted approx $1600. Mr Newton quoted approx $300 give or take

As you are at Parramatta, why not go to Bob Whyms auto ph 9838 7373.
He is at Seven Hills and has courtesy cars to boot?

Re-Porsche Mechanic

Hi KJ9438

If you want a non-dealer professional that has extensive brand knowledge and is as honest as the day is long then that can only be Bob Whyms at Seven hills.

I have dealt with him many times and have found that his service and prices for Porsche repairs are perhaps the best outside that of Germany. Bob Whyms Automotive is probably in the top 3 non-dealer workshops in Sydney. Considering you also live in Parramatta, this would be the very best location for you.

I entrust Bob Whyms with engine, gearbox or any other big or small rebuild or repair. He will in fact not repair the vehicle for you unless the repairs are to a professional standard and with the best parts.

Dealing with Bob Whyms has shown me how shonky other repairers can be like and now I will not take my SC 911 to anyone else for repairs.

cheers

mechanic

u may go good motor wreckers of japanese cars in australia.....they can help u lot. I spent on Japanese spares parts and realized that it is still better alternative for utilized used spares parts. Japanese spares support for Nissan, Toyota, Honda spare parts…..etc.

^^Where do these guys come from?

Anyway I'd like to give my recommendation of Buchanan Automotive. They have always done a great job with my cars and you won't get any more knowledgeable mechanics for the front engined cars. That is not to say their work on rear engine models is anything less. Having over 35 years experience under the one roof is irreplaceable.

Hi fellow Aussie Porsche enthusiasts/owners I have owned my 3.2 Carrera for 6 years, and have used most of the people mentioned above, and must say I now alternate between Con Raftos from Euromotive in Botany, and Bob Whyms, in my opinion and experiences with dealing with them, they are both gentleman and a wealth of knowledge.
