FS: Close ratio gear set for 930 4 speed
includes 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear sets with dog rings.
The gears were fitted to my 930 in 2009 and have done 8,000 km since then - not even run in! I'd prefer to sell them here in Aus, so I am holding off on posting this on the main used parts forum for a few days. ![]() All bearing surfaces, dog teeth and gears are as new. ![]() ![]() ![]() These gears effectively give very similar ratios to the 5 speed G50 box for 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. There is no tall 5th gear of course, so this limits top speed to something more like 240kph, but it gets there real quick (I have seen 246kph on my GPS - on a private road of course!)Changing to this set of ratios made a huge difference to the driveability and performance of the car both on the road and on the track. The lower gearing is like having an extra half bar boost but without the risk of busting the engine. It totally transformed the car. Higher engine revs at open road cruising speeds hasn't been an issue on its many weekend drives through WA's south west - the much livelier performance in all gears more than outweighs that disadvantage. The gears were made by Albins in Victoria. Check out their website if you aren't familiar with the name. Price is $A1650 shipped within Aus. Prefer payment by EFT, or add 3% for PayPal. In the tables below, the gears for sale are those in red text. The blue text represents the original 930 4 speed gearing and the 930 5 speed gearing is also shown for reference. The graph shows close-ratio set in red and standard gearing in blue. ![]()
