Recommend a free audio book

I'm going to be in the car a lot over the next few days. I can only listen to music so long. There's over a 1000 audio books online. Recommend a book that might take 16 - 24 hours to listen to, or a series. I'm not looking for any particular genre. English only, please. Downloadable, preferably in .mp3 format, no streaming. Thanks in advance.

Most of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is available as audio on youtube

There are multiple sites where you can enter a youtube video URL and it will rip the audio out and give you a MP3 file.

Find unabridged is the best for travel listening. When took driving trips used to always get books on tape from a local shop the sold used ones and bought them back. It was like cheap rental with no time limits.

Our local library has audiobooks that can be checked out for a limited time. It's not exactly free but you have already paid for it with your taxes.

I listen to audio books everyday. I drive quite a bit on a daily basis, so it really is convenient for me.

Dan Brown’s stories are very popular.

Our local library system uses the Libby App. Audio books downloaded for free to your phone.

Using the account # of my local library, I have access to countless audio and Ebooks. Can borrow up to 21 days. Download to my tablet or phone and listen w/o streaming. Wi-Fi used only for a few minutes to download.

Thanks. I converted and downloaded the first two books in the series, that should get me through a couple days. Depending on hotel internet speeds, I'll look at other titles along the way.

This may come in handy - I'd recommend starting with the Night Watch thread or the Witches thread

https://itsjustcrap.com/Pratchett/Discworld.jpg

Take the filename off the end of the URL and you'll find epub files

Change Pratchett to Pratchett2 and you'll find the Science of Discworld and a few other goodies.

The Classic Tales Podcast is my favorite. Full classic books for download for free. The narration is excellent.

Just a followup.

I ended up converting The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Sourcery, and Good Omens by Pratchett and Gaiman off Youtube. I forget what site I used, but it all converted but the audio level was really low. I had to turn the volume on the phone almost all the way up (past the "you're going to ruin your hearing, kid" level) and turn up the volume in the car as well. I copied all the files to the "podcasts" folder on the phone, and used the file explorer to find them and start them playing. The default app was Google play music. All was fine until the phone rang, blasting our ears, and then the book stopped and did not resume when I rejected the call. I got 3 spam calls in about an hour and gave up for the day.

I then moved the files to the Samsung Music folder - /My Files/Internal Storage/Samsung/Music, and used the Samsung player to listen to them. At least they resumed after a call or text alert, but I lost the progress bar that indicated how far into the book you were. Oh well. Got through Colour of Magic and Good Omens, didn't help that the wife talked over them so I may have to go back and listen to them again.

I've previously used Audacity to edit and amplify mp3 files but I have no idea if it could handle a 5 hour mp3 to increase the volume.
