Late model Land Rover Disco vs/ RR sport

Hello

Ms Gogar wants to trade in her 2010 RR Sport HSE for a late-model lease return.

I bet that she will test drive a disco also.
I seem to remember people talking alot of crap about Discos a while back.
Are Discos pieces of crap? Have they gotten better? Were they really that bad?

Also, if anyone is interested in a

2010 RR HSE Sport supercharged with 33K miles for low/mid $20ks let me know!!!!!! I'll give it the full on Gogar insulting q-tip 10-million products supa detail for you.

My SIL has a 2015? RR Sport. It had a few electrical issues but nothing major. Don’t know anyone with a late model Disco. I hate the rear license plate placement on those. Ugly.

My wife has this exact RR Sport as your wife except white/2012/non-supercharged. Even the same wheels. Currently at 60k miles and the only repair was the passenger seat heater. This has been an excellent vehicle. Her previous 08 RR Sport was good too and was sold with 80k mi. Only unscheduled repair on that was airbag suspension (pump or valve, can’t recall) which was around $1500. Previous to that was an 04 Disco. At 80k it blew the head gasket and was traded in for the 08. My BIL’s wife had an 08 RR sport supercharged that was a complete lemon. That car lived up to the Land Rover stereotype.

Nah too ugly apparently.

I’m urging her to try a Porsche or an F-pace too.

My basic MO is to beg and plead that she not fall in love with the first one she drives that is the right color.

And that’s exactly what’s happening so far. The current winner is a 2016 v6 supercharged former enterprise fleet car. Good lord.

We owned a '96, '99, and '03 Disco that served as my wife's DD. She still misses those rides. I don't miss the MPG and oil stains on our driveway. They were mostly trouble free for us and even today one of the most comfortable rigs to navigate the on/off roads in. Luckily we always bought them second hand as they drop 75% in value within a couple years.

But this thread is late model Disco/RR which I have no inputs on other than the late model Disco looks like a minivan. I am 100% confident it outperforms our Disco's in every measurable metric and 2x on Sunday. They still look like a minivan and we want nothing to do with them. We didn't buy into the brand for prestige, we loved the style and driving experience that no other manufacturer offered at the time. IMO the latest RR/LR offers nothing unique to the automotive world other than crazy high pricing and world leading depreciation.

It only has 33k and she wants something new? That said, what about a Stelvio?

Most people learn lessons the hard way. Looks like you’ve given your input and since her title is Ms. not Mrs. she will likely do whatever she wants and suffer or celebrate. If she buys a turd, I’d decline requests to polish it but understand that may result in less polishing for everyone.

Wife was looking, sold her RR sport. Test drove an F-pace and Evoque, I really liked the Jag, but the wife liked the Evoque better. She got the Evoque.

I think she’s looking for absurdly quick depreciation but not instantaneous depreciation.

My wife and I would be all over that if our bathroom wasn't involved in a remodel right now.
