No, not triple A.. a different one. I had an MRI a week ago because of back pain and I find I've been diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm..4.6cm x 4.3cm. Has anyone dealt or are dealing with this issue? I see my cardiologist tomorrow and I hope to learn much more, other than what the internets tell me..slightly overweight, non smoker (11 years now) CABG in 2007 but normal BP..My primary care physician doesn't seem to be overly concerned, unless it hits 5cm

Yep, I have one too. Figure if it blows, I'll bleed out in a matter of minutes. So, "at my age" all that's being recommended in a once a year or so check with an ultrasound. So far, no pregnancy detected...

That's okay by me, having had major abdominal surgery before...which seems to be the "fix" if it gets larger. How much larger, I haven't a clue.

So...wait for your Cardio guy's opinion...

Dad asked me what he should do when his was diagnosed in his 80's. Surgery (a patch job) at that age is very risky, of course, with it being quite possible he'd die on the table.

I suggested he do nothing, which is what he did.

Then a year or so later, he was standing in front of the fridge which didn't have any more beer in it (!) and he just fell over. He was dead before he hit the ground on August 7, 2007.

Lots of endovascular repairs available today...lots. So much so that vascular surgeons are rightly concerned about their livelihood.

Not entirely true. If it would rupture, yes. However, many will dissect and if untreated or untreatable eventually cascade to a couple of different potentially ugly deaths including organ hypoxia and necrosis which is a terribly uncomfortable way to go.

Understand that I'm not trying to scare anyone in writing this, only educate. Take your team's advice as long as you think it's sound.

CT scan in 6 months..if it's grown, insert a stent for reinforcement.
