Anyone suffer from Pseudogout (CCPD)

I have a knee that all of a sudden started bothering me and was swollen and stiff. Went to the Doctor and he drains it and I was great for about 4 days and the pain starting coming back. I have a follow up appt. tomorrow. I've done all my Google diagnosis but was wondering if anyone else had any first hand knowledge about how to deal with it.

It's a form of arthritis where calcium pyrophoshate crystals form in the joints.

Thanks

I thought it said "Pseudo-Gut"

Pseudo-Gout, pffft, not worth commenting on.

If you got the Real Thing, then we'll talk :-)

I'm really glad I don't have it. They don't know what causes it, can't treat it and it can't be cured. :(

Just be glad you didn't have ersatzmelanoma.

What did the joint aspiration show?

I got an MRI it showed that I have a torn meniscus. Swollen and hurts like ****. Surgery is scheduled for August 24th. :(:(:(:(

Hope it’s not your left knee. Had mine done two years ago. Hurts like hell after driving the Porsche 😞

I was going to say don't buy any green bananas, but thought at some of our age groups that's not so funny.

This is not horrible news.

12 or so years ago I had 1/3 of my right knee meniscus removed. The pain was immediately gone. I had been living on Tylenol for several months before the surgery and post op, I didn't require one single pain pill. Complete absence of pain.

Fast forward, I do 1.5 hours on my treadmill 6 days a week at 12-15% incline and I have zero issues with that knee.

i would recommend you get a sports medicine surgeon to do the operation.

This is mostly good news, I think. Something that's not too bad, not unusual and generally easy to fix. Congrats. It sounds like you've got the right Dr.

Bill Douglas 08-07-2018 07:23 PM

It's less invasive than it used to be. Those horror stories from your youth don't apply as much these days - relax :)

Glad they found out what was ailing you.

Excellent.

BTW, I just noticed that you live in JVille. My best friend lived in Jacksonville (Pablo Creek Reserve) until about 2 years ago (Gainesville native, then Ft Myers, Boca Raton and West Palm before JVille)... I absolutely love Jacksonville (and PV). He had a career change (sort of) and finally moved to Tampa after commuting between JVille and Tampa for almost 2 years while he had his house remodeled. (not kidding. 2 year remodel)

After several visits, I am not impressed with Tampa.

^^^ I'm born and raised in Tampa. I went to college in Jax and always liked it. Three years ago I took a job here and we move up. Do not regret it at all. Tampa, although it is home I'm glad to be out of there.
