  • It is unclear if sex addiction treatment will be provided on the NHS

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared sex addiction is a mental-health disorder.

Known as compulsive sexual behaviour disorder, it is defined as an inability to control intense sexual urges leading to people neglecting their health despite often deriving no pleasure from being intimate, according to a report issued by the WHO.

Patients must suffer from the disorder for at least six months, and experience substantial distress as a result of their addiction, before being diagnosed, the report adds.
They could have just asked me...

I have some nearby aquaintences who are swingers (we aren't), who just can't seem to get enough of whatever comes thier way. He is my age, 53 years old, and has a wife of 25 years with 2 different girl friends (one who lives with them). She has her husband, and at least 1 girl friend, and 1 boyfriend. This must be an all consuming hobby, because they bounce from job to job, and live in a double wide trailer, and are each 100# overweight. YUCK !

Not buying into that at all.........an addiction is an addiction......

let me get this straight. addicted to sex means you eff anyone, (or let anyone eff you)?

i assume it would be beneficial to be really good looking. that would suck if you were hideous. i've never met anyone addicted to sex..or even heard of it about anyone. must be rare.

Have known one guy who has it. He's gay but I'd not know if he hadn't told me. Apparently, it's not unlike other addictions which is to say a compulsive behavior fueled by some inner issue that has gone off the meter.

I was married to someone who suffered from this.

My ex

Loved sex.

But...

She would start having problems if she didn't have sex daily. Basically, she would think she wasn't pretty, etc. It was a self esteem issue. And this was mixed up with alcoholism.

While we were together I never had any indication she cheated on me. If she did, she was discrete enough that I never knew.

Afterwards, she cheated on her boyfriend...with me. So I'm pretty sure back when we were together, on Tuesdays when she was off from work, she was probably back in her hometown and sleeping with someone. I don't think it was "random people". I think that it was someone from before we met.

We ended up splitting up over her alcoholism and suspicions. She "thought" I was cheating on her. And she basically thought this because no one she had ever been with, had ever been fully faithful. She also had been "the mistress" in several affairs when she was younger.

I Hope she is better today, but I have not seen her in almost 20 years.

As with any other addiction, there's a point where you'd prefer to be by yourself, than with someone else. It's the addiction that leads to isolation as Jada indicated

Actually, quite a bit. Drug addiction is the reason that Moon the Loon died.

I dated someone for a while who described herself as a sex addict.

I thought to myself, until recently we just called chicks like that a slut.
