We are thinking about getting an electric car; that charger would require another 240v circuit from the garage subpanel and I'd use a timer to charge it at night.

My house uses all natural gas, except for Air Conditioning (42KBTU & 48KBTU) and our Oven. But there are outlets next to the dryer and under the gas cooktop. I do not think there are lines run for the hot water heaters.

My goal in the next year is to replace all of the Air Conditioners with Variable Speed Drives, add insulation in the attic, add a 3rd A/C into the master bed room (mini-split), and add about 10kW of solar, with our Mi-Grid system.

Of course Mrs. Beards priorities run a little different...New bathroom, new kitchen...

I need a 3/8" female NPT to 3/4" male GHT adapter. Not the most common thing.

Okay! Dishwasher is installed! And it works perfectly!

Well, it did work perfectly, ran it through several cycles. Then it started throwing an error code.

Sigh. Well, at least we know the electronics are not DOA, the pump is not DOA, there are no leaks, etc, etc. So I guess figuring out which probe sensor is malfing or whatever the the issue is, is comparatively minor.

Dishwasher is working fine now.

I'm still figuring out how best to use it. One way is to keep one side of my double sink full of hot soapy water, and drop used pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils, etc in the water as I finish using them. When I have a spare minute, take the stuff from the water, use a brush to knock off any large pieces of food, and place in the dishwasher. Push "wash" button on dishwasher, get beer, open beer, pour beer in glass, admire head, open dishwasher, remove and put away the clean and steaming hot stuff. Unless it's flimsy plastic in which case you have to throw it's deformed remains away :-). Do this as many times as needed during prep and cooking. When you return from the dinner table, put the dishes, glasses, flatware in dishwasher, run dishwasher again and you're done!

so what was the problem?

There are two probes at the rear of the tank, that detect when the tank has filled with water. I had cleaned them with a soft cloth as the manual said. So I said screw it and scrubbed the probe tips bright with a green scrubby. I also inserted a valve online with the water supply house to control the incoming pressure. But I think scrubbing the probe tips is likely what fixed it. I will get some deliming agent and delime this machine. I may also order a new probe set for $80, just to have them ready. Some reading - thanks for the link! - suggests those probes are practically a consumable.

Then again, service in my house will be like.retirement for this machine. In commercial use they must run dozens of cycles a day, seven days a week. Here it may run a dozen or two a week.
