Used SUV Purchase advice...

purchase advice...
Now that my Mondial is on the road and fulfilling my Ferrari dreams, thanks again David. Ferrari of Bedford 👍👍👍👍 and my 911 is 100 percent.

I am actively in the market for a SUV. Important in this order:

- Cool factor
- Tow at least 5000 lbs
- Reliable

Budget is $25-29k if I sell/trade in my 2012 Volvo S80 or
$10-15k and I keep the S80 for long family trips. I love the S80 it’s been one of the easiest cars we have ever owned.

So I guess $10k-$15k is my real budget.

Cayenne? LR4? Range Rover? Suburban? XC90?

Any and all input welcomed and appreciated,

Andrew

Touareg. Or as I prefer to call it Cayenne without the markup.
Tows 7700
Gets 28-30 highway when it isn’t and is comfortable for long trips.

Diesel if you can find one - the extra torque makes towing easier.
I’ve had both petrol and diesel. Towed 6000lbs more than 10k miles without issue between the two.

My son recently bought a used Denali to use on trips with the whole family (new baby+2 dogs).
It's pretty plush inside, full leather, captains chairs in second row etc. Got it off an ex-fire captain so it is super clean. 6.3L should be able to tow anything he can throw at it and it's four wheel drive too. Rides nicer than his Ram 1500 crew cab did too. It's got those magnetic shocks on it I believe.

He's in the process of de-chroming it so there's less bling.

Denali added to my list. Are the prices in line? If I did go the big GM. route I would keep the Volvo and be in my $10-15k spend range

He got it for $13k w/receipts for over $2k worth of trans work within the last year on it, 155k miles but you wouldn't know it just by looking at it. One of the cleanest used vehicles I've ever looked at for potential purchase.
I don't know what prices for them are in your neck of the woods. My son said he'd been looking for a while, saw this a week before he bought it. Guy lowered his price a few days later and he decided to jump on it since it was a fireman's truck. "They keep their stuff pretty nice" is what he told me when he asked me to go look at it. After I looked, I reco'd that he buy it and I didn't even have to drive it either. Some times you just know when to move on something.

Yeah, he did. The guy he bought it from was kind enough to cancel an apt with another buyer till my son could come look at it the next day. Super nice guy as he wouldn't even take a deposit to hold it for him. The Big D is a creampuff.

The girlfriend has the same year s60 R.
She really wants the XC90, but doesn't want to drop the coin on a new one yet. I can see the appeal of the XC90, but prolly way over budget.

Anyways, my sister has been going through SUV's like nobodies business. 3 small kids. She started off with the newGrand Cherokee, wanted something bigger so bought a Yukon XL! Lol someone rear ended her in that thing, and bought a new jeep Patriot. Someone ran a stop sign with only 700 miles on that jeep and she got another one.
Next one will prolly be a crew cab diesel truck. She's been eyeing a few of them.

These would be as good as a Cayenne?
